About me

Clinical expertise
My work spans from the biomechanics of human movement to clinical psychoneuroimmunology. My master's research focused on the physiological phenotypes of depression and that framework still shapes how I approach burnout and exhaustion today, backed by a decade of clinical practice.

Human-centric approach
I treat your health as a system, not a checklist of symptoms. Each session maps how your behaviour, biology, and environment interact, addressing root causes rather than surface complaints. Your story is heard here, your challenges met with real attention, and the plan we build is specific to you, not a template.

About Insula Care

Welcome to Insula Care, where the inspiration for the name is deeply connected to the essence of my mission. "Insula Care" refers to the insular cortex, a unique region in the brain that profoundly influences my approach to therapy and wellbeing.

The insular cortex, or simply 'insula,' is crucial for introspection, processing emotions and developing self-awareness. I believe that understanding and nurturing physical and emotional wellbeing is essential to whole-person health.

The insula monitors internal signals from the body such as hunger, pain, and autonomic functions like heart rate and digestion. This is vital as I guide you to understand your body and respond thoughtfully — key principles in lifestyle medicine.

The insula also plays a role in maintaining homeostasis, helping to balance the body’s physiological processes. This aligns with my goal to help you achieve balance in all aspects of your health, from nutrition and physical activity to stress management and sleep.

Finally, the insula supports social connectivity, compassion and the ability to engage in meaningful relationships. This fundamental aspect of being is sometimes overlooked in medicine. We are herd-animals, and without our wolfpack it is harder to flourish in life.

Thus, "Insula Care" is not just a name but a representation of my integrative approach to health, where mind, body and environment are interconnected.

Philosophy

Modern medicine.

I strive for a world where people invest in sustainable, integrative and personalised health solutions. Our society can become happier, stronger and healthier if we implement the philosophy of D. Erasmus: "Prevention is better then cure".

Attention.

Every appointment is carefully prepared with literature research and brainstorming. After every appointment I integrate what is done and discussed in the therapy plan. This is a time and attention intensive process which is why I limit the amount of appointments per day and per week. This influences my availability but ensures high quality treatments for you.
